Who we are
My name is Gregoire Verweijen and I am the owner of this personal portfolio website. Our website address is: https://www.greeg.nl.
With this privacy statement, I would like to inform you about which (personal) data we collect for which purposes.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Analytics, Usage statistics website (cookies)
To make use of usage statistics on my website, we use the open source software Matomo (What is Matomo ?). With this we place two analytical (first party) cookies:
- _pk_id: generates a unique number to distinguish a visitor from other visitors. Retention period: 14 days after your last visit to our site.
- _pk_ref: registers the site from which a visitor comes to our site. Retention period: 30 minutes after your last visit to our site.
We have taken the following privacy protection measures:
- we mask the last two bytes of the IP addresses we collect from visitors (example: 192.168.xxx.xxx). The IP addresses are therefore anonymised.
- We store the collected data on our own hosting that we manage via my hosting provider and which are located in the Netherlands.
- The visitor logs (with the data below) are not kept longer than 32 days.
- No cookies or other trackers from third parties will ever be loaded via my website (s).
- we respect Do Not Track headers, in fact I encourage their use, and of cookie-blockers!
Using Matomo and these analytical cookies, I collect the following data:
- The unique number associated with the cookie _pk_id (see above).
- IP address (anonymised).
- Visited pages (title and URL) and date and time when they were visited.
- The URL of the page with which one has arrived on my website (Referrer URL).
- Used links on our website that refer to external websites (Outlink).
- Downloaded files.
- Estimated location: country, region, city (we do not collect the exact geolocation).
- Other information: screen resolution, visitor’s local time, website speed, browser language.
- User agent of the browser: used browser, operating system, type of device (computer, smartphone, etc.).
Because the impact of these analytical cookies on your privacy is limited, you do not have to give permission for this.
Who we share your data with
The collected data is stored in my own database and will never be shared with any third party.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Your contact information
If you fill in a (contact) form on our website or send us an e-mail (@ greeg.nl), we will process and store the personal data that you send us with it as long as the nature of the form or the content of your e-mail is necessary for the complete answering and handling. We can also store received e-mails insofar as this is necessary for proper execution of our regular activities.
When you participate in a poll via our website, your IP address will only be logged in order to determine that only one voting is done per IP address. The collection of IP addresses for a poll is permanently deleted when the poll in question is closed.
If you voluntarily provide us with your contact details in the course of our work with the intention that we can reach you via this contact information, for example by providing a business card or because you want to work with me, we can keep this data insofar as this is necessary in the context of our regular activities, including relationship management.
How we protect your data
What data breach procedures we have in place
What third parties we receive data from
We will never provide your personal information to third parties if this is not explicitly stated in our privacy statement. The only two exceptions are:
- if we expressly request your permission in advance for a provision to third parties; or
- if we are legally obliged to do so and only after we have done our utmost to prevent distribution on the basis of a legal obligation.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
There is none.
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) you are entitled, among other things, to inspect the personal data that we collect from you and to adjust or delete these in certain cases. You may also in certain cases request us to stop using your data or request that you provide your data in a machine readable format.
In order to exercise your rights, you can send us a request by e-mail or post using the contact details listed below. In order to comply with your request, we may request further information to verify your identity.
More information about the rights that you have on the basis of the AVG can also be found on the website of the regulator, the Dutch Data Protection Authority. You can also submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority about our use of your personal data if you consider this necessary. (Explanation about your rights)

We can change this privacy statement. We will announce important changes on our website. Previous versions of our privacy statement are archived online. (Old versions)
